Save Your Summer Plans! Take Care of Your Back
April 14, 2023
You and your family have looked forward to this trip for months. You finally managed to get your kids to unplug and have fun during the summertime, and you want to make memories they can look back on fondly.
But, as you unload the car, you pick up a heavy suitcase and feel a twinge of pain in your back. Not a great start to your summer adventures! Before you let this happen to you this summer, consider taking care of potential back issues now with a chiropractor so that you can focus on having a fun time with your family.
How Back Pain Can Sabotage Your Summer Plans
There are an infinite number of ways you could injure your back while out on a trip, including:
- Lifting something heavy
- Twisting or turning suddenly
- Sleeping on an unfamiliar bed
- Sitting for long periods of time in the car or a plane
One wrong move could leave you lying down in pain instead of playing at the beach or in the pool or doing whatever you have carefully planned and looked forward to. But it doesn’t have to be this way!
Why You Should Be Proactive with Your Back Pain
If you routinely struggle with back pain or anticipate a lot of activity, you should consider taking a more preventive approach, instead of only reacting after it already happens. When you are proactive, you reduce your chances of experiencing pain and missing out on your well-laid plans.
Understanding and practicing good posture, stretches, and exercises that build up your core strength can enable you to do more activities and avoid spending time flat and in pain.
How to Be Proactive about Back Pain
You may not be able to avoid all back pain, but you can keep it to a minimum. In addition to being physically active regularly and stretching on a daily basis, you can meet with a chiropractor at least every now and then.
During these visits, even if you don’t currently have back pain, chiropractic care can help you maintain healthy alignment and reinforce good posture. Your chiropractor can also teach you ways to strengthen your abdomen and back muscles. As a result, you’re much less likely to injure yourself and more likely to enjoy your summer plans to the fullest.
Back pain doesn’t have to stand between you and summer fun. By working with a chiropractor and developing healthy habits, you can let loose and have a memorable time with loved ones!
