Power Plate and Weight Loss
One serious health concern for obese people is visceral (or abdominal) fat. Visceral fat is stored between organs in the abdomen. It is a major health concern, because there is a correlation between high levels of visceral fat and the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases, such as heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes.
Starting an exercise routine can be difficult for many overweight people; they may shy away from working out in a gym because of the exercise demands or because they are too self-conscious about their bodies. That’s why Power Plate can be a great way to start exercising and see encouraging results more quickly.
Power Plate offers several advantages. First, whole body vibration exercise is low-impact, so there is less strain on joints, especially when you are doing static exercises. In addition, the time needed to complete a workout is much shorter on Power Plate, which can be tremendously advantageous for someone just starting to exercise. Combining Power Plate training with a low-calorie diet could help achieve sustained long-term weight loss, which may also reduce visceral fat tissue in overweight adults more than aerobic exercise could do alone.
Power Plate Increases Bone Density
Among women that are postmenopausal, training with Power Plate has been shown to increase bone density in the hip area, muscle strength, and postural control.
As Baby Boomers reach the golden years, the incidence of osteoporosis, loss of postural control and balance, and bone fractures from falls are increasing. Research shows that one in three women and one in eight men will suffer from osteoporosis in a year, and millions can suffer from fractures due to early bone loss.
Tests indicate that Power Plate training increases strength. Power Plate’s whole body vibration causes muscles to contract subconsciously 30 to 50 times per second, leading to advantageous training effects even if the patient is only standing on the plate.

Power Plate FAQs
While you can always ask us about this exercise in person, here are some of the most common questions we get about the Power Plate training in Naples. Feel free to contact us if you have others or concerns not discussed here.
How Long Does It Take to Complete a Power Plate Session?
The exact time recommended for a session may vary depending on various factors concerning your training, but in general sessions last between 15 and 30 minutes. We may recommend repeating your Power Plate training two to three times per week to build up strength and see faster results, but again, the frequency can be customized to your needs and ability.
Is Power Plate Vibration Training Safe?
Although any form of exercise comes with potential health risks for those with certain preexisting health issues, no negative effects have been reported as a result of vibration training with Power Plate. You may feel a little sore after your first session, especially if you are just beginning to resume activity, but it’ll wear off as you build up your strength. To err on the side of caution, be sure to tell Dr. Wills about your medical history before starting training.
Do the Vibrations on the Power Plate Hurt?
Typically, patients may report a tingling or buzzing feeling while on the Power Plate, but it is rare that anyone experiences discomfort. We will set the Power Plate at a lower intensity level for your first time and perhaps increase it as you go, ensuring that you get used to it and avoid any drastic, unpleasant sensations. Again, if you have a preexisting medical condition or concern, make sure you discuss it with Dr. Wills first so that we set the Power Plate to the appropriate level.
Is the Power Plate Machine Loud?
No, it operates at a lower volume than more traditional types of fitness equipment. That way, when we give you instructions for exercises, you can easily hear us.
Is It Okay If the Power Plate Vibration Training Is the Only Exercise I Do?
You won’t be required to pair this exercise with other forms. In fact, many patients, especially at the beginning of training, rely solely on the Power Plate. However, getting regular cardiovascular activities are also good for your body, and we may teach you stretches or exercises you can do at home to improve your strength, flexibility, and range of motion. If you are concerned about your activity level, bring it up during your training session, and we’ll discuss the best plan for you.
